What’s everyone talking about at the Conversation Series?
As part of the
May
Design Series taking place at ExCeL London, from 19-21 May,
there will be a whole host of unmissable industry figures to see and hear from
at the free CPD accredited Conversation Series programme sponsored by Crosswater, including leading
designer Karim Rashid. Aiming to stimulate, inform, inspire and provoke,
the Conversation
Series is sure to get tongues wagging! We’ve put together a
sneak preview of just some of the key KBB industry focussed sessions that will
be going on:
What's the Deal with the Green Deal? Green measures are all about the building
envelope and renewables right? Wrong! The Green Deal leaves no domestic stone
unturned. Chaired by Brand Director of Building and Ecobuild, Tom Broughton,
and accompanied by Michael Steinle, Graham Jones and Tim Pollard this
informative seminar will look at the Green Deal’s impact on the property market
and the implications for the KBB sector. Prepare to be enlightened on Sunday 19
May at 13.15.
Philippa Turrell, editor of Kitchen &
Bathroom News, chairs this session entitled
‘Urban Design: Kitchens and Bathrooms for Smaller
Spaces’. She will be joined
by Russell Buckley (Stuart Henry Kitchens) and Stuart Irving (Ablutions Luxury
Bathrooms), who will host the seminar in memory of independent KBB designer
Marion John, to discuss the problems and solutions of providing fully equipped
kitchens or bathrooms in smaller spaces. Listen in on Monday 20 May at 10.15.
Design in
Today’s economy: Indulge
yourself with this insight into high spec’ kitchens and bathrooms and
draw inspiration from the top table as success here can, and will be replicated
down the value chain. Chaired by Andy Taylor (Managing Editor of Taylist Media)
and accompanied by Roger Kyme, (CEO at Ripples) and Tony Nicholas (Managing
Director of Nicholas Anthony), this relevant and informative discussion will
take place on Tuesday 21 May at 10.15.
We've brought some of the biggest names in
household fixtures and equipment together to discuss the likely impact of
tomorrow’s technology and how it will affect the function of kitchens and
bathrooms in the future. Speakers, Thomas Johansson, (Design Director,
Electrolux) Geoff Wickett, (Marketing Manager, Hansgrohe) Maurizio Severgnini,
(Managing Director Built In Unit Hoover Candy) Tim Farmiloe, (Director,
Farmiloe & Farmiloe) and chair, Martin Allen-Smith, (Editor, Designer
Kitchens & Bathrooms) will be debating this hot topic in their seminar, Future

Karim Rashid, one of the most prolific designers
of his generation, will host a keynote session and then take to the decks to DJ
at the late night opening on Monday 20th May. His Conversation Series talk, Analogue
vs Digital at 3.15, will discuss how design shapes people’s daily lives. It
will also review how the move from analogue to digital has changed the material
world and how it will inform design decisions and alter social behaviours.
