The multi award-winning Bathroom Manufacturers Association is at the forefront of the UK bathroom industry, representing manufacturers in the key areas of sustainability, making life easier, training and education, technical issues, and marketing and lobbying.
The BMA is a trade association which has represented the interests of the bathroom industry in the UK for well over 100 years. As the recognised ‘Voice of the Bathroom Industry’ the association is the key link between the industry and its customers, installers, Government and media, and represents the industry at UK and European Product Standards committees and at the European Commission.
Today the BMA represents over 60 bathroom manufacturers and service providers, with over 90 well-known brands.
Based at the Innovation Centre at Keele University Science and Business Park the BMA is at the leading edge of UK bathroom manufacture.
Sustainability | The BMA has lead an industry initiative to raise awareness of those water efficient bathroom products which are playing a major part in reducing the consumption of water in homes and public buildings. The initiative - The Water Label, and its accompanying Water Calculator - lists products which meet strict water-efficiency criteria. The on-line database gives the purchaser sufficient detail to make an informed and intelligent choice. The Water Label is now represented in the 27 countries of the EU, together with Switzerland, Russia, Israel and Turkey.
Making Life Easier | Through its special web site this BMA initiative studies the needs of disabled and elderly people and considers the challenges created for bathroom product designers.
Education and Training with The Bathroom Academy | The downloadable product guides and the innovative online self-help testing system are at the core of the academy. Additionally the BMA, with its partner 20-20Technologies Limited, provides training in The Principles of Bathroom Planning and Design to small groups during a one or two day seminar.
Technical Issues | The BMA represents its members at UK government forums and at the EU Commission. It also sits on European and International standards committees and associated trade bodies. Technical support is given to members across the range of bathroom products by the Technical Director who regularly reports on the future changes in legislation enabling them to manage the inevitable effects on their business.
